The Melissa Rich Mulcahy Monthly Program
The Melissa Rich Mulcahy (MRM) monthly program takes place on the last
weekend of every month. It is a free experience designed specifically for
parents and their children. We will meet at a predetermined location, and
enjoy a peaceful, fun, and relaxing, early-evening walk through the woods.
Each month will have a different theme. One month we will search for local
flowers, sketch them in our journals, and learn about them through our field
guides. The next month we will study bird habits and build bird feeders
for our own back yards. And still other months we will plant flowers, pull
weeds, and do our best to better the natural recreation areas around our
city.
This program has been created in the loving memory of Melissa Rich Mulchay. Melissa revered nature. A strong believer in the overwhelming benefits of playing out of doors, she would take her twin girls, Clementine and Florine, on nature walks looking for wonders in the natural world. Melissa was a gifted flower arranger, loved music, and almost never closed her windows at home.
Sadly, Melissa passed away on September 12th, 2008.
We at Outdoors With Friends are hoping to keep alive her passion for nature,
children, and conservation by providing parents and their children with
an opportunity to take part in some of the activities she loved so very
much. We hope you'll join us on a weekend afternoon. Please contact us to
get details on this month's meet-up.
